The Athletic’s Dianna Russini said “all signs appear to be pointing to the Titans taking QB Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick” in this month’s draft.
Speaking on her Scoop City podcast, Russini said, “I haven’t found anyone in football right now that said to me, ‘Oh, be careful, they may be just doing all this to see if (the Giants) will come up and make some historic trade to get up there.’” She also mentions the team’s decision to cancel its private workout with Shedeur Sanders last week as another sign that points to Ward being selected by the Titans with the 1.01 while adding “the only way” the team parts with the top pick is if a historic trade comes across the table. Ward finished fourth in Heisman voting in his lone season at Miami last year, throwing for 4,313-39-7 and completing 67.2 percent of his passes. If a quarterback does go at the 1.01, he is a near lock to be the name we hear called at the top of the draft.
