Fox Sports’ Henry McKenna reports Terry McLaurin “will explore every option, including a holdout, a hold-in and a trade” while seeking a contract extension from the Commanders.
According to McKenna, the source he spoke with said “everything will be on the table” for McLaurin, while adding that the veteran receiver is “taking things day-by-day in hopes of hearing more from the Commanders, who have not talked to him about his contract in weeks.” McLaurin, who hasn’t said if he would attend camp or not, spoke openly last week about his frustration with the front office and their decision to not engage with contract negotiations. McLaurin is a franchise cornerstone for the Commanders, and has endured a myriad of disasters that include but are not limited to multiple name changes, coaching changes, and an ownership change in his seven seasons as a pro. He’ll turn 30 shortly after the season starts and is reportedly seeking top-10 money at the position, which could be two causes for the hang-up. It’s hard to imagine McLaurin playing for another team in 2025, but it doesn’t sound like this stalemate is nearing a resolution. We’ll have a better sense of where McLaurin stands when veterans report on Tuesday.
