ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes the Vikings could have a “genuine co-RB1 deal” between Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason.
Fowler reports that his visit to Vikings camp on Friday “did nothing to dispel” his belief that Jones and Mason would both play major roles in the offense. It’s still early, but Fowler also added that he believed a legitimate 50-50 split between the two backs may not be out of the question. The Vikings brought in Mason this offseason after he broke out 153-789-3 last season while making six starts in Christian McCaffrey’s absence. The 26-year-old back seems unlikely to overtake Jones, 30, who rushed for 255-1,138-5 last season and added another 51-408-2 through the air, but he could make for a solid handcuff in fantasy drafts and would have top-12 fantasy potential if Jones were to ever miss time. Any kind of split would undoubtedly make both backs difficult to trust on a week-to-week basis when healthy, which is why both are currently going in the seventh/eighth rounds of fantasy drafts on most platforms.
