Emari Demercado rushed three times for 81 yards and a fumble in the Cardinals’ Week 5 loss to the Titans.
Let’s start with the positives. Demercado was the Cardinals’ third down back, keeping the same role he had with Trey Benson as the lead back in Week 4. He ceded most touches to Michael Carter as the lead back, but still saw 19 snaps in a mostly run-heavy game script. On one hand, Demercado had a 72-yard run in the fourth quarter. On the other hand, the only reason it was not a touchdown was because he dropped the ball before crossing the goal line and fumbled it out of the end zone, leading to a Titans comeback win. For fantasy purposes, Demercado likely keeps his role as the third down back, but this game was not a great sign that he will be anything more than an RB4.
