Playing out of the final pairing, overnight quad-leader and World No. 351 Josh Teater enjoyed a bogey-free 6-under-par 33-33=66 in the third round of the opposite-field Puerto Rico Open to post 16-under 200, down two spots to solo 3rd, two shy of 54-hole leader Viktor Hovland, who carded a bogey-free 64 out of the penultimate twosome.
The 40-year-old, playing this season on conditional status, is chasing his first TOUR title in 193 events. He owns just two career top-3 finishes, most recently a T2 at the 2013 Farmers (66-70-73-69). After opening with 66-68, the Kentuckian found 10 (of 14) fairways and 15 greens in regulation on Day 3. He scribbled down six birdies at holes 2, 5, 8, 14, 16 and 17, recording 1.600 putts per GIR with 27 total putts. The Morehead State alum will play out of the penultimate twosome on Sunday with Emiliano Grillo.,
