From the early wave, alternate and World No. 1806 Matt Every withdrew during R2 of the opposite-field Barbasol Championship citing a back injury.
The 38-year-old, who arrived 245th in the FedExCup standings, is a mid-tourney WD for a 17th time in 274 events. It’s his second of the season in six starts, joining the Bermuda Championship five starts ago, also during R2 (wrist), and second at the Barbasol in four visits, second straight after a back during R2 in 2021. Last year, he was 5-over thru 10 holes, 1-over total when he called it quits, and this year, he was 1-under thru six holes, 6-over total after an opening 7-over 79. The two-time TOUR winner, who claimed back-to-back W’s at the 2014 and 2015 Arnold Palmer Invitationals, has not qualified for the post-season since finishing 86th in the final FEC standings in 2019, and since then, has missed 33 cuts, made seven, and withdrew seven times.
