NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

Monday has three games on the schedule.

Forwards:

Connor McDavid (Edmonton) - C - $9,800 (FanDuel), $9,200 (DraftKings), $38 (Yahoo)

McDavid will require a serious cap investment for Monday, but his body of work and a favorable matchup make him worth spending up on this slate. He has picked up at least one point in each of Edmonton’s first seven games and he already has six multi-point performances. That includes four goals and nine points on the power play as well as 39 shots on target. Seattle’s penalty kill has been good this season (tied with the Oilers for the third-best efficiency), but they will be playing for the second time in two nights when they visit the Oilers following a four-game homestand.

Josh Norris (Ottawa) - C - $5,700 (FanDuel), $5,200 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo)

Norris has four goals and one assist during a three-game point streak going into Monday night’s action. He also has 10 shots on goal during that stretch and appears to be finding his groove. Norris can be stacked comfortably with Drake Batherson for Monday’s slate against the winless Chicago Blackhawks.

Alex Killorn (Tampa Bay) - W - $5,100 (FanDuel), $4,800 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)

Killorn has accounted for six goals and three assists in eight games so far this season. He has lit the lamp four times, while adding three helpers, during a four-game point streak heading into Monday’s contest against Washington. He offers plenty of bang for the buck upside.

Bargain Bin: Drake Batherson (OTT) - W - $5,700 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Jesse Puljujarvi (EDM) - W - $5,600 (FanDuel), $5,600 (DraftKings), $22 (Yahoo), Tom Wilson (WSH) - W - $5,600 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Editor’s Note: Drafting is only half the battle! Get an edge on your competition with our NHL Season Tools - available in our EDGE+ Roto tier for $3.99/mo. (annually) or $9.99/mo. Defensemen:

John Carlson (Washington) - $6,400 (FanDuel), $5,900 (DraftKings), $22 (Yahoo)

Carlson has supplied two goals, one assist, eight shots, three hits and five blocks in his past three outings. He is on the pricier side as far as cap hits go among blueliners, but his category coverage makes him a solid choice for Monday night.

Bargain Bin: Artem Zub (OTT) - $4,300 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Evan Bouchard (EDM) - $4,000 (FanDuel), $4,900 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo), Dmitry Orlov (WSH) - $3,900 (FanDuel), $4,500 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Filip Gustavsson (Ottawa) - $6,500 (FanDuel), $7,600 (DraftKings), $28 (Yahoo)

Gustavsson would be a solid choice if he gets the start for the Senators. He has a 2-1-0 record this year with a 2.23 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. Gustavsson also played well for Ottawa last season with a mark of 5-1-2, a 2.16 GAA and .933 SV% across nine games played. He has very good cap hits across the board and a favorable matchup versus the Blackhawks should he get the nod.

Other play: Mikko Koskinen (EDM) - $8,000 (FanDuel), $8,100 (DraftKings), $32 (Yahoo)
