Morten Orum Madsen (8-under 65-71=136) was the medalist at Southport & Ainsdale where Ian Keenan (138) and Elliot Saltman (138) outlasted Chris Doak in a playoff for the final two berths. At 7-under 69-68=137, Steven Alker was the medalist at West Lancashire, leaving Scott Pinckney (139) and Steve O’Hara (139) to emerge from a four-way playoff with Marty Jertson and Richard Bentham. Notables that failed to qualify at any site include: Michael Campbell; Scott Dunlap; Chris Smith; Peter Uihlein; Chris Wood; Jarmo Sandelin; Nick Dougherty; Bryden Macpherson; Reinier Saxton; Ross McGowan.
