Michael Vrska, director of product development at Adams Golf, has a very simple way of describing the company’s new Idea Tech V3 hybrids and irons.
“They play as good as they look,” he says.
Clearly, he is right about their looks, as the Tech V3s boast that black, PVD (physical vapor deposition) finish that is all the rage in golf equipment these days. Then, there is the matter of performance, and the key word there is ‘easy.’ As in, easy to hit, for these are designed to be super game-improvement clubs that will also attract some interest from mid-range handicappers.
The Tech V3s come in two, eight-piece set configurations – forged and hybrid. Both sets consist of 4, 5 and 6 progressively sized hybrids and a 7 mid-hybrid. After that, the forged set features four oversized, cavity-back irons, 8 through gap wedge, while the all-hybrid set has four hybrid scoring clubs, also 8-to-gap.
The hybrids in both sets have strategically placed tungsten weighting in the stainless steel heads for improved forgiveness as well as a four-way, cambered sole and recessed heel and toe areas to reduce turf drag. As for the transitional hybrid mid-iron, it includes a viscoelastic vibration dampening system that is geared to provide better feel.
The forged irons have precisely located heel and toe weighting to enhance scoring potential, while a tech badge is designed to improve feel across the faces. With regards to the scoring hybrids, they feature a thin face design and perimeter heel-toe weighting to increase launch angle.
“The Idea Tech V3s excel because they give golfers exceptionally easy-to-hit clubs loaded with the latest technology and also a thinner, sleeker look,” Vrska says. “In addition, with each club in the set individually optimized to fully integrate together, consumers won’t experience any gapping issues and will consistently get more distance.”
The stock shaft for the Tech V3 hybrids is Mitsubishi Rayon Bassara, which is graphite and offered in four different flexes and weights. For the short irons in either the forged or all-hybrid sets, players can choose from that Mitsubishi graphite shaft or True Temper Performance Tech shafts in steel.
