SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Jordan Spieth is staying in a house this week that’s just to the right of TPC Scottsdale’s fifth hole. It’s nearby, it’s convenient … and it’s also within range of a drive off that tee.
He should know. He hit the house on Thursday.
“I just pumped one off my own room on 5,” he said after an opening-round 1-under 70. “But for real, though, I actually did pump it off my own room.”
Seriously?
“Well, when I saw the ball, I heard it like hit the cart path or something. It went up, and that’s my room right there. I have never done that before.”
Spieth reloaded and found the fairway with his second drive, eventually making double-bogey on the hole.
