The Oklahoma mens golf team concluded second-round action in first place at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The Sooners finished the day three strokes (-13) ahead of Florida (-10), after ending Sundays first round action in second place with a 5-under par.
Freshman Anthony Kim (La Quinta, Calif.) and Carlos Del Moral (Valencia, Spain) are tied for second place behind to Matt Hendrix of Clemson by two strokes. Kim shot a second round 69 (-3) for a two-day total of 139. Del Moral, in his second tournament as a Sooner, carded a 68 (-4). Senior Blake Martin (Stigler, Oklahoma) also landed in the top-five with a two-day total of 140 (-4).
Senior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) finished the day tied for 20th place after shooting a 73 (+1). Junior Craig Lurie (Houston, Texas), making his first start for Oklahoma, shot a 74 (-2) for a two-day total of 146.
The last time OU won a tournament was during the 2000 season. The Sooners claimed first place in the Windon Memorial Classic, which was played at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
Oklahoma will begin final-round action Tuesday morning at the River Course (par-72, 6, 945) at the Westin Rio Mar.
