Americans Lead Canadian Tour Q-School

Americans Ryan Grant and Ryan Carter share the lead at the halfway pole of the Canadian Tours Winter Qualifying School.

One day after posting 66 in the opening round at Los Serranos CC, the two shifted across town to Green River GC but the result was identical. Both Carter and Grant came in at 3-under 69 for a two-day total of 9-under 135.

David Walker of Australia is one shot off the pace while Vince Covello and Michael Letzig are at 7-under.

Calgarys Scott McNeil is the top Canadian at minus-3, good enough for a share of 18th spot with seven others. Fellow Calgary native Ryan Devlin, Adam Speirs of Winnipeg and overnight leader Tom Stankowski are part of an 11-player logjam at 2-under 142.

Thirteen players sit at minus-1 at the halfway point, including Montreals Julien Trudeau.

On the line after Fridays final round are exempt playing cards for the 2006 Canadian Tour season to the low 20 finishers. The next ten plus ties receive non-exempt, or conditional, status.

A total of 155 players representing 11 countries are in California looking for Tour playing privileges.

The Canadian Tour season gets underway with back-to-back events in Austin, Texas early next month. Barton Creek Resort & Spa will host the Yes! Golf Barton Creek Classic from Mar. 2-5 followed by the Yes! Golf Barton Creek Challenge the following week.
