Hero World Challenge purse: Last place still to collect six figures

This week’s Hero World Challenge, which begins Thursday at Albany in New Providence, Bahamas, features a significantly smaller purse and winner’s check than what PGA Tour are used to, at just $3.5 million and $1 million, respectively. By comparison, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship this past fall had a $6.5 million purse with the winner collecting $1.17 million.

However, the Hero’s field includes just 20 players – and last place in the no-cut event still takes home six figures.

Also, the strength of field is stout, as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is one of six top-10 players in the world teeing it up. Tournament host Tiger Woods will also make his competitive return this week. Here is a breakdown of how the $3.5 million purse will be allotted Sunday at the Hero:
