It’s a colloquial expression, but sometimes courses just seem to swallow up golf balls. Apparently, sometimes snakes do as well.
In Australia, a 5-foot python at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Hospital underwent an operation to remove a couple of golf balls after engulfing them. Due to the snake’s brand of choice, it was dubbed “Callaway.”
According to veterinarian Michael Pyne, chicken owners often replace eggs with golf balls in order keep the chicken comfortable.
‘For snakes, because they smell like chicken, they must be an egg,” he said, according to the Australian news site Big Rigs. ‘Their eyesight is well down in their order of senses, so if it’s warm and smells like a chicken they’ll eat it.’
