Mickelson has been a part of the first two editions of this event. During the first one he went head-to-head against Tiger Woods at Shadow Creek and came out victorious. Last year, he and Tom Brady lost to Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning while playing at Medalist Golf Club. This time around, Phil Mickelson will team up with Charles Barkley to do battle with Stephen Curry and Peyton Manning. The match will use a modified alternate shot format and will be played at Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, Arizona. That will be a fun event to watch on November 27th but in the mean time, Mickelson will try to tune up for Augusta National with the Masters just three weeks away. He is playing in the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD this week, fresh off a second PGA TOUR Champions win, in as many starts on the senior circuit.

  • The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player cracked the field on a sponsor’s invite, generating a lot of buzz. There was lots of talk that he was stealing a spot from a deserving pro, and that he would be lucky to break ’85'. While Curry is not fooling anyone into thinking he can win this week, he is currently sitting above eight golfers on the live leaderboard and is generating huge viewing interest in this event. Curry showed some tee-to-green nerves out on the course today but looked solid around the greens. He took advantage of the par 5s with two of his three birdies being circled on the par 5s while the other came at the par-3 sixth from just inside 10 feet. Curry is still five shots outside of the cut line, needing the round of his life tomorrow if he wants to play the weekend.
