Wheatcroft started his day at the Monday qualifier in Scottsdale where he was one of over 110 golfers vying for three spots into this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. He wrote: “Played 3 holes and called for an ambulance. Literally. Spent afternoon in hospital. All is fine, just not getting the blood I need to brain. ... Obviously not the day I had planned, but sometimes the big guy upstairs has other ideas for you. Gotta keep chugging and see what’s next. ... Not in hospital any more. Really no cure or prevention techniques. All tests, bloodwork, EKG’s, cat-scans, etc. came back perfectly healthy.” Assuming he’s fit, look for him at next week’s stop at Pebble Beach. He’s off to an unimpressive MDF-MC start to 2012. Incidentally, the Monday qualifier will conclude on Tuesday morning. A four-man playoff between Kevin Kisner, Mark Anderson, Billy Horschel and Jason Gore is required for the final berth. Troy Kelly and Aaron Watkins co-medaled to qualify.
