Steelers signed Kent State WR Isaiah McKoy.
McKoy (6'2/200) is the rare three-year G5 player. A three-star recruit at Kent State in 2018, McKoy instantly turned himself into a starter, snagging 124 passes for 1,748 yards and 16 touchdowns. He racked up some MAC honors along the way, including second-team All-MAC in 2019. McKoy’s development coincided with the opening up of the offense down the field. McKoy averaged just 10 yards per catch in 2018, but that jumped to just over 18 in 2020, when he bloomed as a tremendous deep threat. McKoy’s route running elsewhere is suspect by NFL standards, though, and he does not have reliable hands. McKoy’s ability down the field also relied on bullying smaller MAC corners rather than speed (4.68 40-yard dash). McKoy is a special teamer for now, but he may develop into a capable deep threat if he sorts out his drop issues.
