This may give Dallas some more flexibility in being able to retain Marquese Chriss long-term, but McLaughlin will likely head back to the G League.

McLaughlin isn’t a fantasy relevant player, since he’s played in a total of 12 minutes this season. That won’t change when he does indeed return to the team.

McLaughlin isn’t in the rotation on most nights. The issue here is that the Mavericks are low on bodies, as the team now has eight players sidelined due to health and safety protocols alone. Dallas is scheduled to play Sacramento Friday night, but we’ll have to wait and see if the Mavs have enough available players.

McLaughlin is coming off a strong Summer League with the Warriors’ team, where he averaged 10.2 points, 1.6 threes, 4.4 boards, 5.8 dimes and 1.6 steals in just 24.2 minutes. He’ll spend most of his time in the G League in 2021-22.
