The Wizards have claimed free agent guard Joel Ayayi off of waivers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Ayayi was waived by the Lakers over the weekend, a little over two months after the undrafted free agent was signed to a two-way contract. Before Ayayi could clear waivers, which would have opened the door for the Lakers to add him to the roster of their G League affiliate, the Wizards put in a claim. Ayayi will likely spend the majority of this season with Washington’s G League affiliate. He is now the third former Gonzaga player in the organization, joining Rui Hachimura and Corey Kispert.
