Free agent TE Joey Haynos will try out for the Raiders this weekend.
He’ll participate in Oakland’s rookie minicamp. Haynos, a 6-foot-8, 270-pound blocking specialist, was out of the NFL last year after the Jags waived him.
  • FA Tight End #44
The Cowboys recently tried out free agent TE Joey Haynos.
John Phillips will ascend to No. 2 on Dallas’ tight end depth chart following Martellus Bennett’s departure, but Haynos could battle for the No. 3 job.
  • FA Tight End #44
Titans signed TE Joey Haynos, formerly of the Jaguars.
28-year-old Haynos is a blocking tight end at 6-foot-8, 270. Likely just a camp body, he wouldn’t be a threat for many receptions if he did make the roster.
  • FA Tight End #44
The Dolphins are reportedly high on second-year TE Joey Haynos.
Haynos, a raw 6'8/270-pounder, was seen as an offensive tackle prospect by some coming out of Maryland in 2008. Haynos caught a touchdown pass as a rookie, but will probably never be more than a situational No. 2 tight end.
  • Anthony Fasano’s role in the Dolphins’ passing game will increase with David Martin (knee) out for the season.
Fasano already took every snap as the Dolphins’ “Y” tight end last season, so he’s not going get more reps. But someone will have to pick up Martin’s 31 catches from last season and Joey Haynos definitely isn’t ready for that. Fasano could push for TE1 status when it’s all said and done.
  • FA Tight End #44
With David Martin (knee) on injured reserve, Joey Haynos is the Dolphins’ No. 2 tight end.
Haynos will get on the field when the Dolphins run two-tight end packages. He’s huge (6'8/270) and did catch one touchdown pass as a rookie. Haynos is no threat to Anthony Fasano.
  • FA Tight End
    Dolphins waived/injured TE David Martin.
Martin, 30, caught 31 balls for 440 yards and three TDs last year, but Sunday waiver claim Davon Drew has more upside. Martin’s release means Anthony Fasano could run more vertical routes while Joey Haynos stays in to block as the No. 2 tight end. We like Fasano a bit more as a fantasy TE2.
  • Anthony Fasano (hip) missed practice again Tuesday.
Fasano is headed toward a game-time decision Thursday night, but he’s not a fantasy option regardless. Coach Tony Sparano suggested Monday that Joey Haynos could be ready for an increased role at the expense of Fasano.
  • FA Tight End #44
Dolphins offensive coordinator Dan Henning admits that Joey Haynos’ effectiveness decreased when Anthony Fasano (hip) was out of the lineup.
Henning was probably referring to Haynos’ blocking, which is a work in progress. During the two games that Fasano missed, Haynos caught three balls in one game and was held to no catches in another. His size (6'8/270) is enticing, but Haynos has a long way to go.
  • FA Tight End #44
Dolphins re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Joey Haynos.
Haynos, originally signed off the Packers practice squad in 2008, will return as Anthony Fasano’s backup. He’s stretched as anything more than a situational No. 2 tight end.
