    He’s taking the place of fellow outfielder Steven Duggar, who was lost to a sprained AC joint suffered in Wednesday’s loss to Washington. Rickard earned his promotion by tearing the cover off the ball at Sacramento, sporting an impressive .358 average over 38 games for the River Cats. The 28-year-old holds a .245 lifetime mark over 317 major-league appearances, all with Baltimore.

    Former Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard will absorb his spot on the active roster. Duggar injured himself diving in the outfield Wednesday against the Nationals. The 25-year-old hasn’t accomplished much offensively this year, contributing a meager .234 average with just four homers in 261 at-bats for San Francisco. His injury is expected to set him down for at least two weeks.
