Jaguars seventh-round DE Jonathan Woodard suffered a torn Achilles’ and will miss the 2016 season.
He suffered the injury two weeks ago at rookie camp. The 226th overall pick out of Central Arkansas was no lock to make the team, but the Jaguars simply can’t catch a break with rookie injuries. Woodard will be sent to I.R.
  • Jaguars signed seventh-round DE Jonathan Woodard to a four-year contract.
The Jaguars have now signed three of their seven picks. Woodard will carry a base salary of $470,774 in 2016. He’ll be limited to special teams work as a rookie.
  • Jaguars selected Central Arkansas DE Jonathan Woodard with the No. 226 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft.
Woodard (6'5/271) ran 4.89 at Central Arkansas’ Pro Day with moderate measurable athletic numbers, including a 34-inch vertical and 9-foot-9 broad jump. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 28 times. Woodard will likely play strong-side end on defense and possibly kick inside on pass downs, but he’s obviously going to have to contribute on special teams to earn a spot.
