    Seriously, we’re not making this up. Quackenbush last appeared in the majors for the Dodgers when he made one relief appearance during the 2021 campaign.

    Quackenbush has refused an outright minor-league assignment and will search for a new organization this offseason. The 32-year-old righty logged 45 relief appearances and 23 saves with Triple-A Oklahoma City, but wound up making just one relief appearance with the Dodgers this season.

    After seeing time in the majors each season from 2014-18, Quackenbush spent all of 2019 at the Triple-A level. The 31-year-old hasn’t had any success at the big league level since 2016 and is merely organizational depth.

    Dodgers fans are likely familiar with Quackebush from all of his stints in the Padres pen. Quackenbush was chosen for the Reds’ Opening Day roster last season, but he was sent down after giving up 11 runs in nine innings and never returned. He ended up with a 2.68 ERA and 25 saves as Triple-A Louisville’s closer. He should be a Triple-A guy again next year.

    The 27-year-old hurler appeared in 24 games before being sent down, compiling a 4.64 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 10/9 K/BB over 21 1/3 innings. He’ll function in middle relief for the Padres.
