Chargers signed QB Luis Perez, formerly of the UFL’s Arlington Renegades.
The 29-year-old Perez is coming off a successful stint with the UFL’s Arlington Renegades. He led the UFL with 2,309 passing yards and 18 touchdowns in 2024. Perez also won the 2023 UFL championship with Arlington. He has bounced around various leagues throughout his career, his most recent NFL stint being with the Rams in the summer of 2022. The Chargers add Perez for camp with Justin Herbert sidelined with a plantar fascia injury.

Rams signed QB Luis Perez, formerly of the USFL.
Perez’s last stop in the NFL came in 2019 with the Eagles and Lions. He most recently played for the USFL’s New Jersey Generals, where he threw for 1,200 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception while completing 71.1% of his passes. Likely nothing more than a training camp arm, Perez will have an opportunity to impress this offseason in hopes of latching on with the Rams’ practice squad or another team in need of quarterback depth.

  • FA Quarterback
    Eagles waived QB Luis Perez.
Signed last month, Perez made his case for a roster spot with the Birmingham Iron of the AAF this spring. He was replaced on the roster by Cody Kessler, who has a much better shot to earn the backup job than Perez ever did. It is possible Perez shows up again as a camp arm.
  • FA Quarterback
Eagles signed QB Luis Perez, formerly of the AAF’s Birmingham Iron.
Perez spent last summer in Rams camp learning his first NFL offense under Sean McVay. He obviously didn’t make the team and spent this winter in the AAF where Perez was third in the eight-team league in pass yards but sported a woeful 5.6 YPA. His receivers didn’t help him at all, however, with a ton of drops, but Perez isn’t absent of blame. He simply did not look like an NFL-caliber backup. Nate Sudfeld is still the heavy favorite to be Carson Wentz’s No. 2.
