    Cubs 2B prospect Andrew Ely logged four hits in Saturday’s win for Low-A South Bend.
    He’s gone deep in back-to-back contests after going his first 27 games without a home run. Ely has hit .355 with seven RBI during his seven-game hitting streak. He’s hit .393 for the month of May, a noticeable improvement from April when he batted just .232 with a .268 slugging percentage. His .327 average for the year ranks sixth in the Midwest League. The 23-year-old joined Chicago as a 32nd-round pick in 2014 after playing his college ball at the University of Washington.

    Mets selected 2B Andrew Ely from the Cubs in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft.
    The former 32nd-round pick batted just .259 with a .710 OPS in 97 games this past season at Double-A Tennessee. Ely, who turns 25 years old in January, has managed just 14 home runs in 1,232 minor league plate appearances.
