Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Reds will receive Andrew McKirahan and Carlos Portuondo from the Braves in the Brandon Phillips trade.
As expected, Cincinnati didn’t get much in return. McKirahan held a 5.93 ERA over 27 appearances for the Braves in 2015 and missed all of 2016 following Tommy John surgery. Portuondo is a 29-year-old Cuban defector who posted a 3.63 ERA in the minors last season.

Reds acquired LHP Andrew McKirahan and RHP Carlos Portuondo from the Braves in exchange for 2B Brandon Phillips and cash.
McKirahan held a 5.93 ERA over 27 appearances for the Braves in 2015 after being taken in the Rule 5 Draft and then missed 2016 following his second Tommy John surgery. He could be in the mix for a bullpen job for the Reds at some point in 2017.

Braves activated LHP Andrew McKirahan from the suspended list.
A Rule 5 pick, McKirahan was claimed by the Braves just before Opening Day and then was popped with an 80-game suspension in late April. The left-hander allowed two runs over 4 1/3 relief innings early on this season. He’ll be used in low-leverage situations.

A number of teams are interested in Marlins left-hander Andrew McKirahan, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
The Rangers are among the clubs with some level of interest. McKirahan, 25, was a Rule 5 selection from the Cubs this winter, and they’ll have to return him to the team if he doesn’t break camp with a team. With a crowded bullpen, it seems the Marlins would rather get something in return for McKirahan rather than giving him back to the Cubs.

Marlins placed LHP Andrew McKirahan on waivers.
The Rule 5 pick will have to clear waivers before being offered back to the Cubs. McKirahan could get claimed, as it was reported last week that a few teams were interested him. The southpaw held a 3.00 ERA with six strikeouts over nine innings this spring.

Arodys Vizcaino will serve as the Braves’ closer following the trade of Jim Johnson.
Andrew McKirahan could get a few chances if the opposition is sending up a bunch of left-handed batters, but Vizcaino will be the main guy here. He’s allowed only one run over nine innings since returning from a PED suspension. Obviously he needs to be added in fantasy leagues where he’s still available.

Braves claimed LHP Andrew McKirahan off waivers from the Marlins.
McKirahan was a Rule 5 pick. The Braves were among a number of teams reportedly interested in the lefty. The 25-year-old posted a 3.00 ERA in nine innings prior to being placed on waivers by the Marlins. He’s not the sexiest name, but could offer relatively immediate help in the bullpen.

Andrew McKirahan has been suspended 80 games by Major League Baseball for performance-enhancing drugs.
Atlanta claimed McKirahan off waivers from the Marlins just before Opening Day and the 25-year-old left-hander had made three relief appearances this season for the Braves. He was a Rule 5 Draft pick last December.

Andrew McKirahan will undergo an MRI on his left forearm Thursday afternoon.
McKirahan exited an appearance in Wednesday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Orioles after complaining of discomfort around the middle of his throwing arm. That can be the first sign of something very serious, like a torn ulnar collateral ligament. But let’s wait for the MRI results. The 26-year-old left-hander posted an ugly 5.93 ERA in 27 1/3 innings of relief last season for the Braves.
