Pirates acquired RHP Brady Dragmire from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.
The Blue Jays designated Dragmire for assignment near the end of September, after which the Pirates pounced for the 23-year-old right-hander. Don’t expect any immediate contributions with the big league club next season. In 45 relief appearances (72 innings) at Double-A New Hampshire in Toronto’s system, he held a 4.38 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 41/28 K/BB ratio.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for right-hander Chris Smith, who joined the Blue Jays’ bullpen on Tuesday. Dragmire, 23, had a pedestrian 4.38 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 45 relief appearances this season at Double-A New Hampshire.

Rangers claimed RHP Brady Dragmire off waivers from the Pirates.
Dragmire has gone back and forth between the two clubs via the waiver process multiple times this winter. Assuming he’s still with Texas come spring training, he’ll compete for a spot in their bullpen.

Rangers designated RHP Brady Dragmire for assignment.
It’s the second time this offseason that Dragmire has been designated for assignment. He was cleared for Carlos Gomez’s return last time around and ended up being claimed on waivers by the Pirates before eventually returning to the Rangers, but this time he’s the roster casualty for the addition of Tyson Ross. The 23-year-old had a 4.38 ERA and 41/28 K/BB ratio over 72 innings with the Blue Jays’ Double-A affiliate in 2016.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Brady Dragmire from High-A Dunedin.
The move protects Dragmire from being selected in next month’s Rule 5 Draft. Dragmire, 22, owns a 3.35 ERA, 1.167 WHIP, and 157/43 K/BB ratio in 215 career minor league innings. He’s mostly a reliever now.
