Dragmire

The Blue Jays designated Dragmire for assignment near the end of September, after which the Pirates pounced for the 23-year-old right-hander. Don’t expect any immediate contributions with the big league club next season. In 45 relief appearances (72 innings) at Double-A New Hampshire in Toronto’s system, he held a 4.38 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 41/28 K/BB ratio.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for right-hander Chris Smith, who joined the Blue Jays’ bullpen on Tuesday. Dragmire, 23, had a pedestrian 4.38 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 45 relief appearances this season at Double-A New Hampshire.

Dragmire has gone back and forth between the two clubs via the waiver process multiple times this winter. Assuming he’s still with Texas come spring training, he’ll compete for a spot in their bullpen.
