    Tigers released RHP Brandon Hamilton.
Hamilton, a supplemental first-round pick in 2007, hasn’t pitched since 2009 with Class A West Michigan due to personal issues. Now 23 years old, it’s not clear if he plans to continue his career elsewhere.

2007 supplemental first-round pick Brandon Hamilton allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings Friday in his debut for the Rookie GCL Tigers.
The 19-year-old Hamilton began pitching in the Midwest League in mid-May, but he was temporarily shut down after posting a 5.01 ERA and walking 28 in 32 2/3 innings. The Tigers knew that he was a raw talent when they picked him, so it wasn’t too much of a setback. He’ll get another crack at the Midwest League next year.

2007 supplemental first-round pick Brandon Hamilton pitched four hitless innings Wednesday in his 2008 debut for low Single-A West Michigan.
He struck out six and walked four. Hamilton is a raw talent, but when it comes to pure stuff, he ranks behind only Rick Porcello in the Detroit system.
