Chih-Wei Hu gave up five runs on four hits and recorded just one out in his Cactus League start against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
Hu gave up back-to-back singles and hit a batter to load the bases with nobody out in the first inning before Christian Walker blasted a bases-clearing double. He managed to strike out Steven Souza, but surrendered a double to Carson Kelly before being pulled. The 25-year-old righty posted a 4.15 ERA in five big-league relief appearances with the Rays last season. He recorded a 4.66 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 92:28 K/BB ratio in 24 appearances (19 starts) at Triple-A Durham.
