Tigers acquired RHP CJ Weins from the Red Sox for RHP Trey Wingenter.
Weins, 23, was a sixth-round pick by the Red Sox from the 2023 draft class. He has struggled in his first taste of Single-A ball this season, posting a 4.81 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 29/16 K/BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings. Apparently, the Tigers see something they like in him though and believe that he can add valuable bullpen depth in their organization.
