    Brewers minor leaguer David Denson has announced his retirement.
    Denson, 22, announced on his Facebook page that he has decided to become a personal trainer. Drafted in the 15th round back in 2013, Denson will finish his pro career with a .229/.338/.368 batting line over 318 games. He split last season between Class A Wisconsin and High-A Brevard County. In 2015, he came out as the first openly gay active player in affiliated professional baseball.

    Brewers 1B prospect David Denson blasted two homers Saturday in a win for Rookie-level Helena.
    It was Denson’s second multi-home-run game of the season. It’s been a quiet year for Denson aside from the occasional power outburst. He’s hit just .246 with 46 strikeouts since joining Helena on June 21. At least he’s drawn 26 walks, the 10th-highest total in the Pioneer League.
