Pirates acquired Cs Edgleen Perez and Rafael Flores and OF Brian Sanchez from the Yankees for RHP David Bednar.
Perez, a 19-year-old backstop out of Venezuela, has slashed .209/.368/.236 with zero homers, 26 RBI, five stolen bases and a 74/68 K/BB ratio over 380 plate appearances at Single-A Tampa this season. Perez was ranked as the 14th best prospect in the Yankees’ system according to MLB Pipeline.
