Tigers re-signed C Eliezer Alfonzo to a minor league contract.
The 24-year-old backstop did a nice job between High-A West Michigan and Double-A Erie during the 2023 season — slashing .265/.326/.379 with nine homers, 44 RBI, 51 runs scored and a 29/28 K/BB ratio over 402 plate appearances. He’s likely to begin the 2024 season back at Double-A Erie where he’ll serve as extra catching depth for the Tigers.
