Athletics signed RHP Frank Castillo to a minor league contract.
Castillo was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento. It’s possible that the 34-year-old will make it back to the majors with Oakland, but he’d almost certainly have to do so as a middle reliever.

Athletics re-signed RHP Frank Castillo to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Sacramento.
Castillo, who was released by the team earlier this month, has little chance of making it back to the majors with the A’s.

Red Sox signed RHP Frank Castillo to a minor league contract.
Castillo went 16-24 with a 4.68 ERA for Boston in 2001-02. He apparently won’t even get an invitation to major league spring training, so he’s not any kind of a candidate to a win a spot in the Red Sox bullpen.

Marlins signed RHP Frank Castillo to a minor league contract.
Probably the Marlins’ best pickup of the day. Castillo doesn’t have a lot left in the tank, but he can still be a decent sixth starter. He went 10-9 with a 4.38 ERA for Triple-A Pawtucket last season.

Marlins designated RHP Frank Castillo for assignment.
Castillo have up five runs in 4 2/3 innings in his start on Thursday. The Marlins apparently waited an extra couple of days to send him down because they wanted to be sure A.J. Burnett would be ready to pitch on Tuesday.

Marlins reassigned RHP Frank Castillo, OF Jeremy Hermida, OF Mike Colangelo, C Ryan Jorgensen, RHP Bryan Corey, INF Robert Andino and 1B Larry Barnes to minor league camp.
Castillo pitched six scoreless innings this spring, but the Marlins have been more impressed with Brian Moehler. Hermida was 7-for-37 with three doubles and a 7/1 K/BB ration.

Frank Castillo will be recalled to start tomorrow against the Phillies.
Logan Kensing appears likely to be sent down. Castillo only figures to make one start in place of the injured A.J. Burnett.

Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Frank Castillo from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Castillo will start Thursday in place of A.J. Burnett and likely head back to the minors on Friday to open up a roster spot for Guillermo Mota.

Frank Castillo took the loss to the Mets in his spot start, giving up five runs in 4 1/3 innings tonight.
Last night’s callups didn’t work out well. Yorman Bazardo relieved Castillo and allowed five runs -- four earned -- over 1 2/3 innings in his major league debut.

Red Sox purchased the contract of RHP Frank Castillo from Triple-A Pawtucket.
The Red Sox needed to go to 12 pitchers with Bronson Arroyo in the rotation and Ramiro Mendoza on the DL. Castillo will act as a long reliever until the team gets healthier.
