Padres signed LHP Hector Hernandez to a minor league contract.
Hernandez, 28, spent two years pitching in the Frontier League before singing with the Indians last January, and he posted a 2.22 ERA and 50/15 K/BB ratio over 44 2/3 innings in the Cleveland system. He’ll likely report to Triple-A El Paso to provide depth for the organization.

Indians signed LHP Hector Hernandez to a minor league contract.
Hernandez was a 10th round pick by the Cardinals back in 2009, and after playing in the St. Louis and Arizona organizations from 2009-2016, he spent the last two years pitching in the Frontier League for the River City Rascals. The 27-year-old pitched well in his time in independent ball, and the Indians will give him a shot to provide some depth in the minors in 2019.
