Rockies LHP Jack O’Loughlin has elected free agency.
O’Loughlin opted out of his minor league deal with Colorado after struggling to a bloated 6.91 ERA across 41 2/3 innings (17 appearances, 10 starts) this season for Triple-A Albuquerque in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. The 25-year-old southpaw made four relief appearances last year for the Athletics during his first taste of the majors.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #37
Rockies signed LHP Jack O’Loughlin to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
The 24-year-old Australian southpaw broke through to the big leagues and appeared in four games for the Athletics during the 2024 season, registering a 4.66 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and a 6/5 K/BB across his 9 2/3 innings of work. If you’re trying to fight for a spot in a big league bullpen, latching on with the Rockies makes a ton of sense as there are plenty of opportunities available. Expect to see O’Loughlin at Coors Field at some point in 2025.

Athletics sent LHP Jack O’Loughlin outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
O’Loughlin was designated for assignment earlier this week. He passed through waivers unclaimed and has the option to elect free agency. Even if he does accept his outright assignment, he can become a minor league free agent at the end of the season. O’Loughlin had a 4.66 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and six strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings for the Athletics this year.

Athletics optioned LHP Jack O’Loughlin to Triple-A Las Vegas.
O’Loughlin, 24, will head back to Vegas with the Athletics reinstated Kyle Muller (shoulder) off the injured list. O’loughlin will likely be back in a middle-inning role before the summer comes to a close.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #37
Athletics recalled LHP Jack O’Loughlin from Triple-A Las Vegas.
O’Loughlin provides Oakland’s bullpen with a fresh arm ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Angels. The 24-year-old lefty has hurled seven scoreless innings over three relief appearances this season in the big leagues.

Athletics optioned LHP Jack O’Loughlin to Triple-A Las Vegas.
O’Loughlin was sent down to make room for Michel Otañez, with Otañez up from Las Vegas in the corresponding transaction. O’Loughlin will likely be back as a helper in middle relief at some point this summer.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
Athletics selected the contract of LHP Jack O’Loughlin from Triple-A Las Vegas.
O’Loughlin will bolster Oakland’s bullpen after receiving his first call-up. The 24-year-old southpaw has compiled a pedestrian 5.12 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 44/16 K/BB ratio across 38 2/3 innings (10 appearances, eight starts) this season for Triple-A Las Vegas. He figures to operate in middle relief situations.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Athletics are calling up left-hander Jack O’Loughlin.
The 24-year-old lefty receives his first call-up the majors after posting a serviceable 5.12 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 44/16 K/BB ratio across 38 2/3 innings (10 appearances, eight starts) for Triple-A Las Vegas.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #96
Athletics optioned RHPs Joey Estes and Royber Salinas, LHP Brady Basso, INF Jordan Diaz and OF Lazaro Armenteros to Triple-A Las Vegas; re-assigned LHPs Jack O’Loughlin and Francisco Perez, INF Brett Harris, C Yohel Pozo and RHPs Gerson Moreno, Vinny Nittoli and Gerardo Reyes to minor league camp.
It’s a large batch of cuts, and there’s definitely some talent mixed in there, but no one who was truly expected to crack the team’s Opening Day roster. Jordan Diaz saw significant time with the A’s during the 2023 season and he’ll surely get another chance at some point in 2024. Estes is somewhat surprising, as he was absolutely dealing in Cactus League play — posting a 1.29 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and an 8/1 K/BB ratio across seven innings in his three outings.
