Tigers acquired LHP Jake Higginbotham and OF Justyn-Henry Malloy from the Tigers for RHP Joe Jiménez and cash.
Higginbotham isn’t as highly-regarded as the other prospect the Tigers are receiving in the deal, but he compiled a serviceable 4.73 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 48/18 K/BB ratio across 51 1/3 innings (48 appearances) last year for Double-A Mississippi. The 26-year-old lefty could find his way to Detroit in a few years.
