Bourque

Bourque last appeared in the majors during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign when he made six relief appearances for the Cubs. The 29-year-old right-hander will head to Triple-A El Paso as extra organizational relief depth.

Bourque, 27, has struggled mightily during his brief chances in the majors with the Nationals, but he has some big strikeout totals in the minors as a reliever. He’ll try to win a bullpen spot with the Cubs.

Bourque is now officially off the 40-man roster. He allowed three runs in just four innings of work this year.

Bourque is done for the remainder of the 2020 season after injuring himself on Sunday afternoon against the Marlins. He had allowed three runs over four innings of work this year with Washington.

The Nationals should pass along an update in the next day or so, but Bourque could very well be done for the season. The 27-year-old has allowed three runs over four innings with the Nationals this season.

He’ll replace Dakota Bacus on the active roster. Bourque has made a couple of scoreless appearances for the Nats this season.

Bourque has made two scoreless relief appearances for the Nationals this season, but rosters have to be cut from 30 to 28 by 12 p.m. ET on Thursday. He should get another look eventually.

Bourque was great in Double-A last year, but scuffled in Triple-A and got tagged for four runs in two-thirds of an inning in his major league debut last May. He’ll try to have better results this time.

Bourque allowed four earned runs while recording only two outs in his one appearance with Washington. The 25-year-old has posted very good numbers this season in the minors and should get another shot eventually.

Bourque holds a 1.33 ERA and 33/6 K/BB ratio over 20 1/3 relief innings for Harrisburg this season. He will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.
