Giants purchased the contract of OF Juan Perez from Double-A Richmond.
He’s now part of the 40-man roster. Perez was much better in 2012 in his second taste of Double-A, batting .302/.341/.441 with 11 homers and 18 steals.

Giants recalled OF Juan Perez from Triple-A Fresno.
With Angel Pagan placed on the disabled list Friday, the Giants were in need of another outfielder and Perez earned the call. The 26-year-old outfielder was hitting .296/.331/.507 with nine homers, 34 RBI and 12 stolen bases through his first 57 games at Triple-A. He could be worth a look as a spot play in NL-only formats.
  • DET Outfield #2
Juan Perez went 3-for-4 and hit his first big-league homer Friday against the Padres.
The 26-year-old Perez has hit .268 in 82 at-bats for the Giants and displayed a terrific arm in the outfield. He’s no future regular, but he’d make sense as a fifth outfielder on next year’s club.

Giants recalled OF Juan Perez from Triple-A Fresno.
Perez struggled mightily in 16 games earlier this season, batting .238/.283/.262 over 42 at-bats. The 26-year-old offers value as a defensive replacement and will provide outfield depth.
  • Giants general manager Brian Sabean indicated Saturday that the team will keep five outfielders on their 2014 Opening Day roster, with Roger Kieschnick a possibility to earn that final spot.
Juan Perez is probably the favorite to earn that final spot, but Sabean is intrigued by Kieschnick, who spent his offseason working out with Orioles slugger Chris Davis. The 27-year-old hit .273/.339/.497 with 13 homers and 56 RBI in 101 games at Triple-A Fresno in 2013.

Tigers signed OF Juan Perez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Perez spent all of 2016 at Triple-A in the Cubs organization, hitting .276/.310/.444 with nine homers and 16 stolen bases. The 30-year-old isn’t much with the bat, but he’s got a good glove and the Tigers need center field depth.
  • DET Outfield #2
Juan Perez went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored as the Giants topped the Diamondbacks in Sunday’s Cactus League tilt.
With Hunter Pence sidelined for the start of the regular season, Perez has an opportunity to seize playing time in the Giants outfield with a strong showing this spring. Thus far, he’s hitting .286 (6-for-20) with three doubles, three RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
  • DET Outfield #2
Juan Perez was removed from Sunday’s Cactus League game against the Indians after fouling a ball off his foot.
The 27-year-old outfielder will presumably head for X-rays as a precautionary measure to ensure that he didn’t break anything. He’s had a nice spring to this point and could find himself as a reserve outfielder on the Opening Day roster.
  • DET Outfield #2
Juan Perez had a huge day at the dish in Saturday’s Cactus League win over the Mariners, going 3-for-5 with a double, homer and two RBI.
The 27-year-old outfielder is slashing a healthy .316/.409/.553 with seven extra-base hits in 38 at-bats this spring. He has a good chance of earning a spot on the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.
  • DET Outfield #2
Juan Perez will be recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Saturday to take the spot of Matt Cain on the active roster.
Perez has gone just 1-for-20 in his limited time with the Giants this season, and will function merely as additional outfield depth while he’s up. He can safely be avoided for fantasy purposes.
