2006 third-round pick Keith Weiser pitched a shutout Wednesday for Single-A Modesto.
It’s not very often one sees dueling pitchers throw complete games in the minors, but that’s what happened when Weiser and Visalia’s Wes Roemer faced off, with Weiser getting the better of it. Weiser moved to 5-8 with a 2.98 ERA, 96 H and 54/15 K/BB in 96 2/3 innings. The left-hander won 17 games in the Sally League last year, but he’s not viewed as much of a prospect because he typically works in the mid-80s. He still might get a look as a fifth starter someday.
