Gerber elected free agency after he was designated assignment by the Giants and outrighted to Triple-A in November. In 73 career major plate appearances, he’s hit just .076/.151/.106, and it would be an upset if he was anything more than Triple-A depth for Colorado in 2020.

Gerber was designated for assignment by the Giants last week and officially rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. The 27-year-old outfielder owns a rough .076/.151/.106 batting line in 73 career plate appearances at the major league level.

The move makes way for new waiver claims. The 27-year-old Gerber batted .308/.368/.569 with 26 homers over 119 games in Triple-A this year, but he’s really struggled in the majors and is mostly an organizational depth player.

The 27-year-old had an outstanding season at Triple-A Sacramento, slashing .308/.368/.569 with 26 homers, 83 RBI and five stolen bases. He’ll add depth in the Giants’ outfield over the final few weeks of the regular season.

Gerber went 1-for-15 with nine strikeouts during his short stay with San Francisco. The 26-year-old outfielder is now a career .088/.159/.123 hitter in 22 games at the major league level.

Gerber was claimed off waivers over the winter but removed from the 40-man roster before spring training. He’s earned his way back on after batting .357/.402/.655 with six home runs over his first 21 games with Sacramento and should see some starts in left field.

Gerber was claimed off waivers from the Giants in December, but the Tigers were able to slip him through waivers. The 26-year-old saw some limited time in the majors last year while Michael is still waiting for his first shot.

Gerber was designated for assignment last week to make room for Drew Pomeranz. The 26-year-old outfielder will be in camp with the Giants this spring and will have a chance to win a job, though he figures to be an underdog. He was 4-for-42 (.095) with 21 strikeouts for the Tigers last year.

The 26-year-old was picked up on waivers from the Tigers early last month but is now being cut loose to clear a roster spot for Drew Pomeranz. There’s a good chance Gerber will clear waivers this time and get an invite to spring training to compete for an outfield job.

The 26-year-old Gerber batted just .095/.170/.119 with a 21/4 K/BB ratio over 47 plate appearances during his first exposure to the majors this past season. He wasn’t great in Triple-A either, but there’s some pop in his bat and he has experience across the outfield.
