  • MIL Starting Pitcher #51
Freddy Peralta fired seven one-run innings on Wednesday striking out seven and walking one in a loss to the Marlins.
Peralta’s only mistake was a 3-1 fastball to Jazz Chisholm in the first inning that wound up in the seats. Even in that at-bat Peralta missed some borderline pitches to fall behind. Still, he was fantastic Wednesday after scuffling to a 6.19 ERA May. He likely has better times ahead while his strikeout rate stays high and walk rate stays manageable.
  • MIL Right Fielder #22
Christian Yelich delivered a go-ahead two-run triple in the eighth inning on Tuesday, lifting the Brewers to a 7-5 win over the Marlins.
Yelich came through in the clutch against his former organization by victimizing Marlins lefty A.J. Puk with a two-out triple to right field that put Milwaukee ahead for good in a back-and-forth slugfest. The 32-year-old outfielder is batting .321 (26-for-81) with five homers and six steals through 22 contests.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #29
Trevor Megill fired a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the Marlins to record his seventh save of the season.
Megill got the call to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and needed just 14 pitches (11 strikes) to slam the door. It was a much-needed bounce-back after suffering his first blown save of the season during Monday’s series opener at loan Depot park. The 30-year-old righty has converted seven of his eight save chances so far filling in for an injured Devin Williams.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #54
Robert Gasser was charged with five runs (four earned) over six innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
On the heels of a pair of impressive outings to open his big-league career, Gasser turned in one of the more bizarre pitching lines of the season as he managed to allow five runs, despite not allowing a home run or walking a batter. He also didn’t record a strikeout. Weird. We’re not totally sure what to make of it, but we’d bank on the strikeouts coming back when he squares off against the Cubs on Monday in his next outing.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #36
Brewers recalled RHP Tobias Myers from Triple-A Nashville.
Myers provides Milwaukee’s overworked bullpen with some emergency length and could wind up replacing Joe Ross (back) in the starting rotation after he landed on the injured list. The 25-year-old righty holds a lackluster 5.29 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 17/9 K/BB ratio across 17 innings (four starts) this season in his big-league debut.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #41
Brewers placed RHP Joe Ross on the 15-day injured list with a lower back strain.
Ross departed Monday’s start against the Marlins with a lower back strain and winds up requiring a trip to the injured list. The hope is that he’ll only wind up missing a couple weeks. It’s Tobias Myers who has been brought up from Triple-A Nashville to take his spot on Milwaukee’s roster. The 31-year-old righty holds a respectable 4.50 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 35/16 K/BB ratio across 42 innings (nine starts) this season in his Brewers debut.
  • MIL Right Fielder #22
Christian Yelich walked twice and stole two bases on Monday in the Brewers’ extra-inning loss to the Marlins.
Yelich walked and stole second base in the sixth inning before making a daring heads-up decision to steal home on Marlins starter Ryan Weathers later in the frame. It was his first multi-steal performance since back on Opening Day and just the 16th time he’s accomplished the feat in his career.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #29
Trevor Megill allowed one run in the ninth inning on Monday against the Marlins in a blown save.
Megill got the call to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning and wound up surrendering a game-tying single to Otto Lopez with two outs in the frame. It was only his first blown save of the season in seven opportunities. The 30-year-old righty figures to continue serving as Milwaukee’s primary stopper until Devin Williams is ready to return sometime around midseason.
  • MIL Shortstop #3
Joey Ortiz said X-rays on his sore right foot taken after Monday’s game came back negative.
There’s always the chance that X-rays taken right after the incident fail to pick something up, but hopefully, this means Ortiz will be fine to play again in a day or two. He was hit on the right foot by a pitch Monday, though he stayed in to finish the game.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #41
Joe Ross will likely require an IL stint after leaving Monday’s game with a back strain.
It appears that the Brewers are invested in giving Bradley Blalock a look as a reliever, so Tobias Myers might be the choice to step in for Ross. Blalock would be more interesting, though.
