MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported that Ha-Seong Kim “has already generated lots of interest in the early days of free agency.
Specifically, Feinsand mentions that the Giants and Brewers have been the two teams most connected to Kim, with the Giants currently being the team most interested in signing the 29-year-old. Kim won a Gold Glove and received five down-ballot MVP votes in 2023, but he hit just 11 home runs with 47 RBIs, 22 stolen bases, and a .700 OPS in 121 games in 2024 before tearing his labrum in mid-August and missing the remainder of the season. If the Giants were to sign Kim, it would likely mean that Tyler Fitzgerald would move to more of a versatile role where he can play all over the field, which is what new GM Buster Posey has seemed to want.
Where will Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Corbin Burnes sign this offseason?
  • FA Shortstop #27
Will Sammon and Katie Woo of The Athletic report that Willy Adames is willing to move from shortstop in the right situation.
Adames is a free agent, and the 29-year-old is likely going to get one of the biggest contracts of the offseason after he smashed 32 homers and stole 21 bases for the Brewers in 2024. The right-handed hitting infielder is a solid defender, but some teams who don’t have needs at shortstop — the Mets, for example — may like to procure his services while playing him at second or third base. Adames will still have shortstop eligibility in 2025, but it’s possible he’ll have multiple-positions you can roster him this spring. Doesn’t hurt.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #67
Brewers signed RHP Vinny Nittoli to a minor league contract.
Milwaukee has had success with their offseason dart throws in recent years and Nittoli seems like a decent fit after pitching well in nine relief outings last year between the Athletics and Orioles. The 33-year-old righty will compete in spring training for a spot in the Brewers’ season-opening bullpen.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #46
Bryse Wilson has elected free agency.
Wilson heads to the open market after refusing an outright assignment from the Brewers following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster. The 26-year-old righty posted a serviceable 4.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 82/31 K/BB ratio across 104 2/3 innings (34 appearances, nine starts) for Milwaukee.
  • FA First Baseman #9
Brewers 1B/OF Jake Bauers elected free agency.
Bauers has opted to hit the open market in search of a new opportunity rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A following his removal from Milwaukee’s 40-man roster. The 29-year-old posted a pedestrian .662 OPS with 12 homers and 13 stolen bases in 116 games this past season for the Brewers.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #47
Brewers announced RHP Frankie Montas declined his $20 million mutual option for 2025.
Montas will collect a $2 million buyout and head to the open market in search of a long-term financial commitment after settling last offseason for a one-year pact with the Reds. The 31-year-old righty recorded a respectable 4.84 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 148/66 K/BB ratio across 150 2/3 innings (30 starts) between the Reds and Brewers. The fact that he’s eliminated any lingering health concerns should allow him to land a long-term deal.
  • FA Shortstop #27
Brewers extended a one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer to free agent SS Willy Adames.
Adames is a near-lock to decline the one-year offer after putting together an extremely impressive final season with Milwaukee, setting new career-high marks in homers (32), RBI (112) and stolen bases (21), finishing with a robust .794 OPS in 161 contests. The 29-year-old represents a borderline top 10 option at shortstop for fantasy managers heading into next season, even if we’re baking in some slight regression in the power and counting stats departments.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #48
Brewers declined their $5.5 million team option for 2025 on Colin Rea.
Rea went unclaimed on waivers and is now a free agent with a $1 million buyout on his contract. The 34-year-old posted a 4.29 ERA and a 135/43 K/BB in 167 2/3 innings last season for the Brewers. He should have a few teams willing to give him another opportunity in 2025.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #51
Brewers exercised RHP Freddy Peralta’s $8 million club option for 2025.
This one was a no-brainer, as the 28-year-old right-hander is the ace of the Brewers’ staff and comes at a significant bargain. Peralta made 32 starts during the 2024 season, going 11-9 with a 3.68 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 200/68 K/BB ratio over 173 2/3 innings. Expect Peralta to be drafted among the top 15 starting pitchers in fantasy drafts once again in 2025.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #38
The Brewers are declining Devin Williams’ $10.5 million 2025 option in favor of the arbitration process, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports.
He’ll get a $250,000 buyout. Williams made $7 million last season and would have cleared $10.5 million in arbitration next year had he not hurt his back and missed the first half. As is, the Brewers think he’ll have to settle for a lesser salary in his final year before free agency, and they’re not really worried about maintaining goodwill with the two-time All-Star, as it’s quite doubtful he’ll still be around in 2026. It’s entirely possible he’ll be traded this winter.
