Making his way back from a shoulder injury, Padres right-hander Andrew Cashner logged five innings in a minor-league rehab start Monday at Triple-A.

Cashner allowed three runs on four hits and one walk, striking out four. He threw 63 pitches, which suggests he’s likely one or two more rehab starts from potentially rejoining the Padres’ rotation for the first time since late June.

Before being shut down Cashner had a 2.36 ERA in 12 starts, giving him a combined 3.08 ERA in 298 innings since the Padres acquired him from the Cubs for Anthony Rizzo in 2012.
