Houston’s rotation depth just took a hit, as right-hander Scott Feldman will miss the remainder of the season with a sprained shoulder.
Feldman has been a solid mid-rotation starter since signing a three-year, $30 million deal with the Astros as a free agent two offseasons ago, logging a total of 289 innings with a 3.80 ERA.
Thankfully for the Astros their rotation has improved so much since the signing that Feldman seemed unlikely to make a playoff start for them anyway. They still have Dallas Keuchel, Scott Kazmir, Collin McHugh, Mike Fiers, and Lance McCullers to rely on.
Feldman is under contract for $8 million next season.
