Commissioner Rob Manfred handed Vasquez an indefinite suspension, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. The Astros have released Vasquez, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports. Vasquez had been on unpaid administrative leave since August 4.
Vasquez, 22, had been in the Astros’ organization since 2013. This season, at Double-A, he hit .265/.322/.374 in 233 plate appearances.
