Bengie Molina, who spent this past season as the Cardinals’ assistant hitting coach, has joined the Rangers’ staff as a first base coach and catching instructor.

Molina finished his 13-year playing career with the Rangers in 2010, appearing in 57 games for Texas after coming over from San Francisco in a midseason trade. He served as their primary catching during the World Series run.

(Also: I know it’s silly, but the notion of Bengie Molina being in charge of some aspect of a team’s baserunning does make me chuckle.)
