MASN’s Roch Kubatko reports that the Blue Jays have claimed utilityman Jimmy Paredes off waivers from the Orioles. Paredes had been rehabbing a wrist injury at Double-A Bowie and the Orioles chose to expose him to waivers rather than activate him.

Paredes, 27, hit .275/.310/.416 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI in 384 plate appearances for the Orioles last season. He has the ability to play second base, third base, and corner outfield, so he’ll provide some versatility for the Jays.

Per Kubako, Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said in an email, “The O’s tried but we just didn’t find a fit for Jimmy Paredes on this year’s team when it was time for him to be reinstated. Jimmy worked hard with us and we appreciate his contributions over the past two seasons.”
