The Blue Jays have placed starter Marco Estrada on the 15-day disabled list with a back injury, Sportsnet’s Barry Davis reports. Estrada was scheduled to start on Thursday against the Tigers, and that was bumped back to Friday. Now he won’t pitch until after the All-Star break.

Estrada was named to the American League All-Star roster on Tuesday, but he’ll cede his spot to someone else now that he’s on the DL.

The 33-year-old right-hander has pitched admirably for the Jays, heading into the break with a 2.93 ERA with a 99/39 K/BB ratio over 104 1/3 innings.

Davis notes that Aaron Sanchez could replace Estrada in the All-Star Game.
