It’s the issue that just won’t go away.

The Red Sox and Cubs have until Tuesday to work out compensation for Theo Epstein. If they can’t reach a satisfactory agreement by then, commissioner Bud Selig confirmed to the Associated Press yesterday that he will act as arbitrator.

Here’s Selig, who sounds just as tired of the situation as the rest of us:

“If I had to guess today, it’ll be another thing that I have to deal with on November 1st.”

Boston initially aimed sky-high by asking for Matt Garza from Chicago, but chances are they will receive a couple minor leaguers in return. Why do I have a feeling that when this is all over, everyone is going to ask, “That’s it?”
