Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter hasn’t played since last Wednesday due to a bout of “extreme fatigue”. MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch reports that GM John Mozeliak confirmed Carpenter will rejoin the team in Cleveland when they open up a three-game series on Tuesday.
Langosch also mentions that the Cardinals will be more mindful of Carpenter’s schedule, as he shows up seven hours prior to game time to engage in a strenuous workout routine. He had appeared in all 27 games before he was shelved on May 7.
Carpenter got off to a terrific start, batting .333/.403/.620 with 14 doubles, five home runs, 20 RBI, and 23 runs scored. The Cardinals will be quite happy to have him back in the lineup.
